Student Spot, free childcare program

Student Spot is a non-religious program of Immanuel Lutheran Church in partnership with Macalester College. We are committed to being a public church, meaning that we want to actively listen to, walk alongside and bring hope to our community. Student Spot does that by helping parents manage the days off school that can wreak havoc with schedules.

Student Spot provides childcare for 1-day breaks from area schools. It also opens for unexpected school closures like snow days. And it’s free. 

Childcare is very expensive and difficult to obtain if you only need it a couple times a year. Student Spot aims to fill the gap so kids aren't left home alone or caregivers aren't losing vital wages.

Volunteers and staff spend much of the day simply playing with the kids. It's a great opportunity to build relationships and have fun, with no "standards" to meet.
